Anniversary Celebrated by Founding Faculty, Alumni
Prior to the President’s Gala on Sept. 29, founding faculty, distinguished alumni winners and Long School of Medicine graduates from the first year through this year gathered to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary.
A reception downtown at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio featured plenty of reminiscing and visiting with attendees ranging from their 20s to 90s.
William L. Henrich, M.D., MACP, UT Health San Antonio president, welcomed guests to the reception hosted by Dean Robert Hromas, M.D., FACP, and Larry Holly, M.D., Class of 1973. Dean Hromas offered an update on the Long School of Medicine before introducing specials guests Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long, whose names now grace the medical school.
Dr. Holly, the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, introduced this year’s award recipient Michael Brennan, M.D., Class of 1978. Dr. Brennan, who had many of his classmates in attendance, is a retired comprehensive ophthalmologist in Burlington, North Carolina.
