Community support: Wilenchik Walk for Life

Mays Cancer Center Annual Report
The 11th Annual Wilenchik Walk for Life was held on March 4, 2019, at Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas, to support cancer research and new drug development at the Mays Cancer Center. This event honors the memory of Tony Wilenchik, a beloved former Schertz city councilman and civic leader who lost his courageous battle with cancer in 2009.
The City of Schertz and the sponsors and participants of the Wilenchik Walk have raised more than $180,000 to help advance breakthroughs in cancer research through clinical trials at the cancer center. The City has made plans to relocate this fun-filled event to Pickrell Park and add a 5K official timed run to accommodate the many requests from community and area runners.
