NCI Outstanding Investigator Award presented to Dr. Patrick Sung

Mays Cancer Center Annual Report
Internationally renowned biochemist Patrick Sung, D.Phil., who leads a research program in genetic integrity at the Mays Cancer Center, received a highly competitive National Cancer Institute (NCI) Outstanding Investigator Award. He is one of the world’s leading experts on BRCA1 and BRCA2 cancer biology.
Dr. Sung, professor and the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair in Chemistry, is the first faculty member in UT Health San Antonio history to capture this prestigious NCI award, which is bestowed upon researchers with august track records, elite-level scientific impact, and ascending career trajectories and research goals. The award, which began September 2019, will provide $6.1 million through 2026.
