University’s Physician Practice Expands to Popular Boerne Area

UT Health Hill Country is located off Interstate 10 near Boerne.

Ramon Cancino, M.D., a primary care physician, sees patients of all ages at the new UT Health Hill Country location in Boerne.

Since UT Health San Antonio’s inception almost 50 years ago, its clinical practice of physicians has been concentrated near the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long Campus in the heart of the South Texas Medical Center.

With the goal of expanding its health care services to residents in nearby communities, the leadership of the university and the Long School of Medicine opened in March the UT Health Hill Country facility off I-10 at 25723 Old Fredericksburg Road, a quarter mile north of Ralph Fair Road and just south of Boerne, Texas.

UT Health Hill Country is the newest outpatient practice for UT Health’s physician practice, which now boasts more than 700 providers with 125 specialties and subspecialties. The new location offers a state-of-the-art imaging and radiology center with a CAT scan and an MRI as well as specialists in primary care, behavioral health, physical therapy, urology and orthopaedics. The new multispecialty center also allows the medical school to expand teaching venues for students and trainees and enhance clinical research.

Physicians and other providers at this location will work seamlessly with UT Health’s network of medical specialists through the EPIC electronic medical record system. In addition, the MyChart web portal allows secure electronic communication between patients and their physicians. Patients can also use this website to request appointments and view test results.
The UT System Board of Regents allocated $19.5 million from the Permanent University Fund (PUF) for land acquisition, construction and equipping of the 19,000-square-foot clinical facility.

Carlos Rosende, M.D., executive director of UT Health Physicians, noted that this new clinic site represents the practice’s commitment to reaching out to residents in the region. “Our goal is to offer compassionate,  patient-centered care that is founded on what we teach and discover. We want to bring the latest in health care to Boerne and the Hill Country.”
