Faculty Member Earns National Educator Award
American Academy of Periodontology Honors Dr. Michael P. Mills
The American Academy of Periodontology named Michael P. Mills, D.M.D., as the recipient of its Outstanding Periodontal Educator Award. Dr. Mills is a clinical associate professor with teaching responsibilities in the postdoctoral division of the Department of Periodontics in the School of Dentistry.
Prior to joining the faculty at the Health Science Center in 2000, Dr. Mills served as the chairman and program director of the U.S. Air Force Periodontics Residency. He also held an appointment as chief consultant in periodontics to the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General.
In addition to his roles as a former director and chair of the American Board of Periodontology (where he continues to serve as an examiner), Dr. Mills has authored or co-authored more than 30 scientific articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters.
