Oral Surgeon Earns International Honor in Scotland

Dr. Edward Ellis III Elected to Royal College of Surgeons

Edward Ellis III, D.D.S., M.S., professor and chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio, was awarded a Fellowship Ad Hominem in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Professor Bill Saunders, dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College, presented the honor at a July ceremony in Edinburgh. This is the second time Dr. Ellis has been elected to the Royal College of Surgeons. In 2004, he was elected to the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Dr. Ellis took predental classes at the University of Toledo and graduated with a bachelor of science degree magda cum laude. He graduated from the University of Michigan dental school. He joined the Health Science Center in 2010.
