{"id":2823,"date":"2022-12-16T01:13:25","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T01:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/magazines.uthscsa.edu\/schools\/?p=2823"},"modified":"2022-12-21T17:02:05","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T17:02:05","slug":"welcome-to-the-profession-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/magazines.uthscsa.edu\/schools\/2022\/12\/16\/welcome-to-the-profession-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to the profession"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The traditional ceremony that marks the start of each dental and dental hygiene student\u2019s academic journey, Welcome to the Profession, was paused in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>This was remedied on Aug. 20 when the School of Dentistry recognized its classes of 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 at the Henry B. Gonz\u00e1lez Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p>Doctor of Dental Surgery candidates were given a UT Health San Antonio-branded white coat, representing their responsibility as health care providers, while students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene were given branded scrubs.<\/p>\n<p>The Henry B.
