Kevin J. Donly, DDS

KEVIN J. DONLY, DDS, MS, was presented the 2021 Ann Page Griffin Humanitarian Award by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Dr. Donly, professor and chair of the Department of Developmental Dentistry, received his award at the Academy’s annual meeting on May 24. The Griffin Humanitarian Award honors an AAPD member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to improving the oral health of underserved populations.

Under Dr. Donly’s leadership, the Department of Developmental Dentistry manages required senior rotations at the Laredo Health Department in Laredo, Texas, and at the Ricardo Salinas Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. Both sites are positioned to offer care to medically underserved and low-income populations.

Seniors treat the children of Laredo and San Antonio by providing primary dental care services under the supervision of dental faculty. The rotations not only provide patient care to the community but are meant to underscore the importance of community dentistry by exposing dental students to the great need of these patient populations.
