Asma A. Khan, BDS, PhD, FICD, Earns a 2020 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award

Asma A. Khan, BDS, PhD, FICD

ASMA A. KHAN, BDS, PhD, FICD, was awarded the 2020 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Pharmacology/Therapeutics/Toxicology Research by the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

Dr. Khan, associate professor of endodontics in the School of Dentistry, studies extracellular vesicles and the evaluation of safe and effective analgesic regiments. The award recognizes the contributions she had made to treat dental disease and associated symptoms, such as pain and perio-operative apprehension.

Dr. Khan credits Raymond Dionne, DDS, PhD, her mentor as a PhD student, and Kenneth M. Hargreaves, DDS, PhD, whose lab she was a postdoctoral fellow in, for their influence on her career as a young scientist.
