It\u2019s a thoughtfully designed experience that speaks to the body, mind and spirit.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital, which opened in December 2024, blends access to novel research and the latest advancements in clinical care \u2014 interventional radiology, stem cell therapies and integrated imaging suites \u2014 with an intentional focus on whole-person healing. That means patients are finding more than cutting-edge treatment. They\u2019re finding light-filled hallways, quiet meditation rooms and art that invites reflection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though we have amazing equipment and groundbreaking technology, the focus is really relationship building \u2014 creating a connection and providing compassionate care,\u201d said Peniel Martinez, the hospital\u2019s senior director of patient experience. \u201cThe environment is the cherry on top.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hvifLc6Nc3I?si=QtIaD4p3Cw72Uapv\" width=\"844\" height=\"473\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Healing spaces <\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Designed to promote physical, emotional and spiritual wellness, the hospital includes multiple outdoor patios and indoor lounge spaces, a nature trail and expansive windows offering views of the grounds. These spaces are as relaxing as they are therapeutic.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that access to nature can reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve recovery times. The benefits extend to healthcare workers too, offering restorative places to recharge and prevent burnout.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital also features a chapel and meditation room \u2014 spaces that invite prayer, stillness or personal reflection. These amenities support the hospital\u2019s holistic approach to care, one that recognizes the strong connection between mental and physical health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe type of patients we care for are going through difficult experiences,\u201d Martinez said. \u201cThis space is designed not just for their bodies to heal, but for their whole selves to feel supported.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Art plays a powerful role in that design. The hospital\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/uthealthsahospital.org\/patients-and-visitors\/healing-arts-collection\">Healing Arts Program<\/a> features 34 privately funded installations from 28 artists, many from San Antonio and across Texas.
