The Coordinated Program in Dietetics, consisting of a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics and a master’s degree in dietetics studies, recently received “candidacy for accreditation” status following an expedited review from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. “This means that the program is on track to become fully accredited, and that graduates beginning with this first class will have the same privileges as those graduating from an accredited program,” said Carmen Román-Shriver, Ph.D., RD, LD, program director. Currently, 11 students have been accepted at the San Antonio campus and Laredo Campus Extension for the program’s first year. The program has the capacity to enroll 72 students overall once it is established.
