Endowment named in Hincheys’ honor

The endowment established in 1988 in honor of John J. Hinchey, M.D., has been renamed the John J. Hinchey, M.D., and Kathryn Hinchey Chair in Orthopaedics. The endowment honors the late Dr. John J. Hinchey for his significant contributions to orthopaedics at the Health Science Center, and celebrates his lifelong partnership with his wife, Kathryn. Mrs. Hinchey is pictured here (center) at her 90th birthday celebration this summer, with her children (left to right) Ida Hinchey Scott, Mary Kay Hinchey Whaley, Margaret Hinchey Mitchell and William W. Hinchey, M.D. Gifts from family, friends and colleagues, in honor of Mrs. Hinchey’s birthday, were added to the Hinchey Chair. The special celebration was attended by President Henrich. Ronald P. Williams, M.D., Ph.D., professor of orthopaedic oncology and chair of the Department of Orthopaedics, is the holder of the Hinchey Chair.
