The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) announced $28.2 million in funding for a trio of projects that include Health Science Center researchers. The UT Health Science Center’s Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC) has received $23.5 million to help develop a statewide clinical trials network called CTNet.Anand Karnad, M.D., professor of hematology and medical oncology, represents the CTRC and on the multi-investigator grant.

Susan L. Naylor, Ph.D., professor of cellular and structural biology, has received $2.4 million to assist eight M.D. and Ph.D. fellows, five soon-to-be Ph.D.s and M.D./ Ph.D.s, and 18 undergraduate students annually in their study of cancer biology in university labs.

Gail Tomlinson, M.D., Ph.D., has received $2.3 million to study new genetic and biological data regarding the formation of liver tumors in children. Dr. Tomlinson is a professor of pediatrics and the Greehey Distinguished Chair in Genetics of Cancer.
