David Gius, MD, PhD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

David Gius, MD, PhD, a breast cancer and radiation researcher, has joined the Mays Cancer Center. He was recruited from the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University with a $6 million senior investigator recruitment grant awarded in August 2020 by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).<\/p>\n

Dr. Gius, an innovative physician-scientist, studies the cellular processes that govern aging, cellular metabolism and cancer. He has developed several mouse models to study these health issues in breast cancer and other types of cancer.<\/p>\n

He brought four researchers with him to the Mays Cancer Center and, in addition to the $6 million CPRIT grant, three National Cancer Institute grants totaling about $4 million. He has developed eight genetically modified mouse models to study human breast, prostate and liver tumors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
