Zhijie \u201cJason\u201d Liu, PhD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Mary Kay Foundation on Oct. 22, 2020, announced that UT Health San Antonio was among its 2020 cancer grant recipients. The grants are awarded annually to top accredited research institutions in the United States conducting innovative translational research to better understand cancers that affect women.<\/p>\n

Zhijie \u201cJason\u201d Liu, PhD, investigator with the Mays Cancer Center and assistant professor of molecular medicine in the Long School of Medicine, will leverage the $100,000 Mary Kay Foundation grant to study estrogen receptor alpha (ER\u03b1), a biomarker of breast cancer. Dr. Liu is exploring the role of ER\u03b1 cofactors that enable reprogramming of proteins during breast cancer progression, leading to hormone therapy resistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
